 Baughan (Pty) Ltd recently acquired Finwood
Engineering and Manufacturing, Salchain's major South African competitor.
Finwood manufactures a wide range of
conveyor and elevator chains and previously marketed these under the brand
name "Chain King".
 The business has an extensive range of top
class press tooling as well as a strong customer base in South Africa and
neighboring
states. This will allow Baughan (Pty) Ltd to offer additional products to
those previously available from Salchain. In addition Finwood machinery,
particularly its CNC machine tools and presses, will make a significant
contribution towards the manufacturing capability of the Baughan Group.
 The Finwood business has been transferred
some 20 miles to its new factory on Baughan premises in Germiston. Already
up and running, Finwood is operating at close to full capacity and
offering many additional employment opportunities in the Germiston area.
The addition of Finwood to Salchain is
another step in the development of the Baughan Group becoming one of the
world's leading conveyor and elevator chain manufacturers.
